About Wordpad Online

Wordpad Online is a free online document editor. It is a small, independent project: one page that turns your browser into a place to write, keep and export documents, without accounts, subscriptions or uploads.

How it is built

The editor runs entirely in your browser. Documents are kept in the browser’s own database for this site, pictures included, and every conversion — to Word, PDF, Markdown, HTML or plain text — happens on your device. The site itself is a set of static files; there is no server that receives or stores what you write.

What it does well

• Everyday documents: letters, notes, outlines, checklists, drafts and reports with tables and pictures.
• Writers who like Markdown: shortcuts as you type, and Markdown files in and out.
• Getting a clean Word or PDF file out of a draft quickly, on any computer, phone or Chromebook.

Limits, for now

• Sync between devices, sharing and collaboration: documents stay on the device where you wrote them.
• Page layout you can change: margins are fixed at one inch, the PDF numbers its pages by itself, and there are no headers, footers, columns or font choices.
• Spell checking beyond what your browser already offers.
